SAVING PDFs
WHERE DO I GO TO SAVE MY PDF?
The option to save your file as a PDF is located in a different place in the various programs.
InDesign: File > Export > Adobe PDF
Illustrator: File > Save as > Adobe PDF
Photoshop: File > Save as > Adobe PDF
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or Publisher: Unfortunately this seems to change depending on the version you have. Go to: www.adobe.com to find the most up to date support on saving these files to PDF
We recommend creating files in a layout or illustrator based program like InDesign or Illustrator and then saving as PDFS for the best resultls when printing.
The example below is from Adobe Illustrator but most programs are very similar.
1. Open your PDF dialog box (GENERAL is first highlighted item). Adobe Preset: Press Quality
Compatibility: Acrobat 8 (PDF 1.7)
2. Highlight Marks and Bleed
Marks: Generally when sending us a file, we prefer this to be off. We will put them in through our prepress department. Bleeds: Should be .125" for all (This should have been set in the native file as well)
3. Highlight Output
Color: Generally this should be set to US Sheetfed Coated v2 when sending us files that will print in full color. (see next figure if saving as a single SPOT color). Save PDF.
4. Highlight Output
Color: Set to No Conversion if saving as a single SPOT color or Black only. Save PDF.
